Fun platform game - I really like the graphics and I think kids will get the message that smoking is bad.
Great job!

Great job!
Thanks! :D
Took me a while to figure out the last part! Interesting concept, though maybe a little esoteric for someone less interested in Theology / Philosophy.
Your writing is very clear and the simple black and white presentation serves the overall message of the piece well.
A few options led me to dead ends or black screens - I understand this was probably included to serve the message of the piece, but it felt frustrating at times as a player.
I think using Twine to present this type of concept is a great idea - would love to see more experimental type games like this. (but maybe in a more accessible / "gamified" format)
Best of luck - will keep an eye out for other Twine games from you!
Thank you. I will be uploading a new game today.
Fun little jam game! I liked the art style and the story setup. (the "you can't skip this" text was a nice touch)
In terms of notes - the difficulty felt uneven at times, for such a short game I would have expected a more even increase in challenge.
The controls seem quite slippery for a game that looks for precise platforming at times - could be worth tightening up.
All in all good job - could easily be fleshed out into a longer experience!
Thank you so much, each time I feel like I'm improving with each upload I make, I really appreciate the feedback and glad you liked it
I thought this was cool - I like how the paint comes out on the canvas and the music is pretty chill. Had some Paspartou vibes!
I'd love to know how you rank the paintings or if its random?
The paintings are ranked based on the current events of that day, which can be found by clicking the "News" button. For example, if the headlines suggest high cloud coverage or chaos, filling the canvas makes your painting sell for more. Or if there are many mentions of a specific color or theme, using those colors will help the paintings sell for more.
I made the source code public so you could see where the game is actually going through the canvas array and averaging things like the amount of canvas coverage and the average RGB / HSV values: https://github.com/pyrecraft/starving-artist/blob/master/SaleLogic.gd#L156
And then based on the "criteria" which is determined from the news stories, the final payout / score is calculated: https://github.com/pyrecraft/starving-artist/blob/master/SaleLogic.gd#L46
Some cool ideas here!
I like the visual style, but there are definitely some improvements that could be made!
The firing/aiming system feels unnecessarily un-intuitive - I think if you simplified to just click to shoot it would feel better to play.
The one hit death system also feels really punishing - particularly as there is no tutorial section.
Some cool ideas - I hope you get a chance to build on whats here!
Thanks for the feedback , yes i am trying to change the method of shoots. for the moment ,
increase the number of bullets and lower the speed with which they attack xD. :D
Hi -
Cool concept - Definitely some easy improvements you could implement though!
The bullets are quite hard to see, if you could make them a little larger and dark that would solve that issue.
It could be good to have a home screen for the game and maybe to split it into levels with different obstacles.
Thanks for the feedback! I will work on incorporating these into the game soon.
